EiffelStudio 25.12

EiffelStudio 25.12 Brings Native PostgreSQL, Modern Authentication, and Stronger Back-end Capabilities

Eiffel Software announced the release of EiffelStudio 25.12, a major update to its integrated development environment and libraries, significantly strengthening Eiffel’s position as a platform for building secure, reliable, and data-intensive software systems.

With EiffelStudio 25.12, we are deliberately strengthening Eiffel as a modern back-end platform. Native PostgreSQL integration, password-less authentication, and cloud-ready libraries are not add-ons — they are core requirements for building reliable systems today, and Eiffel now delivers them without compromise

says Dr. Meyer CTO of Eiffel Software.

This release focuses on production-grade back-end development, with native database integration, modern authentication mechanisms, new cloud and compression libraries, and broad improvements to security and cross-platform support.

Native PostgreSQL Integration for Eiffel

EiffelStudio 25.12 introduces full PostgreSQL integration in the EiffelStore library, now powered by native bindings. This delivers improved performance, stronger type safety, and direct access to PostgreSQL features without intermediary layers. Developers can now build Eiffel applications that interact seamlessly with PostgreSQL-backed systems — a critical requirement for enterprise and large-scale deployments.

Enhanced CMS Platform with PostgreSQL, APIs, and CLI

The built-in Eiffel CMS platform receives a major upgrade, including:

  • A PostgreSQL backend
  • API key–based authentication for secure integrations
  • A command-line interface (CLI) for automation and deployment workflows

These improvements make the CMS suitable for real-world usage scenarios, including internal platforms, developer portals, and service-oriented architectures.

New Libraries: ZIP Compression and AWS S3

EiffelStudio 25.12 expands its ecosystem with new libraries:

  • Minizip for ZIP file creation and extraction
  • AWS S3 Client for direct interaction with Amazon S3 storage services

These additions reduce dependency on external tooling and allow Eiffel applications to handle common infrastructure tasks natively.

Passwordless Authentication with Magic Links

Modern authentication expectations are now built in. EiffelStudio 25.12 introduces Magic Link Authentication, enabling passwordless “Sign in with Email” flows. This approach improves security, reduces credential management risks, and aligns Eiffel-based systems with contemporary authentication standards.

SQLite Upgrade and EiffelWeb Improvements

The release includes a major SQLite update, ensuring better compatibility, performance, and stability for embedded database use cases.

The EiffelWeb framework has also been enhanced, improving its ability to support modern web services and backend applications.

Security, Stability, and Cross-Platform Improvements

EiffelStudio 25.12 addresses multiple security fixes and strengthens cross-platform support, reinforcing Eiffel’s long-standing focus on correctness, robustness, and long-term maintainability.

Availability

EiffelStudio 25.12 is available now for Windows, macOS, and Linux.
